Life's lessons...

It hit me this month, I think.  It came out of nowhere.  I've been so tearful I don't know what to do with myself.  When I got home from work yesterday DH was asleep (again) for his shift at 23h00 that night.  I just sat down and cried.  Then he woke up, and came downstairs all dressed for his soccer game that night, and I cried some more when I saw him.  Nothing would make me stop.  He even brought me a chocolate when he got home to try make me feel better.  What's going on with me?  I have no interest in work (hating it at the moment),  I struggle to get out of bed in the morning, I don't really want to go out all the time, not much of an appetite unless it's koeksisters or cupcakes.  I feel empty and tired.

I got this in an email from a friend this morning.  I wanted to keep it somewhere so that I can read it again when I need to.

"Sometimes we must be Hurt in order to Grow,
Sometimes we must Fail in order to Know,
Sometimes we must
Lose in order to Gain,
Because some lessons in life are best learned through Pain..."

"Tears are God's gift to us. Our Holy Water. They heal us as they flow."

I heard some incredibly sad news this week.  My heart breaks for those who have lost their loved ones.  I cannot imagine the heartache they must be feeling and I pray that God will hold them close as they say good bye today.  May they find strength in Him.

"Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us"

Diary of a MOH - it all starts here :)

My oldest friend (or rather friend that I've known for the longest time) is getting married!  I'm so incredibly happy for her.  I cannot imagine her with anyone else but him.
Her fiance proposed to her in Paris, on the 9th May 2010, and apparently it took him nothing short of 20 minutes to convince her that he was not joking.  Who goes on a romantic holiday without getting a sparkly diamond ring, anyway!  I knew it all along... and I get to be her MOH.  Good thing my own wedding wasn't that long ago so the planning part is still almost fresh in my mind.  I made their Engagement Party Invite.

The Engagement Party was stunning!  We couldn't decide what to give them as a gift so we thought photos of their engagement would be a good idea.  They were so happy!

Mother's Day

It was Mother’s Day on Sunday.  Another reminder of what would have been.  My husband is so special, he bought me some chocolate and wished me Happy Mother’s Day anyway, and said that he’s so sorry for what happened earlier this year.  I love him so much.  I tried not to shed any tears, but they just started falling down and I couldn’t control them at all.  I know it will happen one day, I hope it will happen one day, one day it will.

What Makes a Mother?

I thought of you and closed my eyes

And prayed to God today
I asked “What makes a Mother?”
And I know I heard him say.

“A Mother has a baby”
This we know is true
“But God can you be a Mother,
when your baby is not with you?”

“Yes, you can,” He replied
with confidence in his voice
“I give many women babies,
when they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime,
and others for the day.
And some I send to feel your womb,
but there’s no need to stay.”

“I just don’t understand this, God
I want my baby to be here.”
He took a deep breath and cleared his throat,
and then I saw the tear.

“I wish I could show you
what your child is doing today.
If you could see your child smile
with the other children, and say…

“We go to Earth to learn our lessons,
of love and life and fear.
My Mommy loved me oh so much,
I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a Mom,
who had so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly,
My Mommy set me free.

I miss my Mommy oh so much,
but I visit her every day.
When she goes to sleep,
on her pillow’s where I lay

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
and whisper in her ear.
‘Mommy don’t be sad today,
I’m your baby and I’m here.’”

“So you see my dear sweet ones,
your children are okay.
Your babies are born here in My home,
and this is where they’ll stay.

They’ll wait for you with Me,
until your lesson’s through.
and on the day that you come home
they’ll be at the gate for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother,
it’s the feeling in your heart.
It’s the love you had so much of
right from the very start

Though some on Earth may not realise,
you are a Mother
until their time is done.
they’ll be up here with Me one day
and know that you are the best one!”

1st Wedding Anniversary

We made it to a year, and what a year it's been.  I had some 'boudoir' photos taken for my husband, which he loved.  It is after all a 'paper anniversary'.  He wrote me a poem, printed it on paper, and had it framed.  That was really special.

Here are a few snapshots from our wedding day, 18 April 2009:
(don't you just love a walk down memory lane)

Ching-ching!

Our anniversary weekend away was so much fun, and we really needed the break, just to get away and reconnect with each other.  We spent a day at a spa and checked into a B&B for the weekend.
