I've held babies before, and have always loved it (provided they were not screaming or crying), but since becoming a mom I think something has changed.
I went to visit a friend yesterday, she had just had her baby and I got to hold her. The most beautiful, precious, tiny baby girl. I can't explain the feeling I got, just that it was way stronger than ever before. This was the first time I had held another newborn baby since having mine. I think I melted.
She was born at 37 weeks, 46 cms and around 2,2kgs - not far off on Ashton (he was born at 34 weeks, 48cms and 2,34kgs). I kept staring down at that little bundle of pink thinking back to when Ashton was just born. How tiny he was, just like this baby. The little face that was smaller than the palm of my hand. It's unreal how quickly we get used to our little ones, and how very quickly they grow, and change. It's a reminder to enjoy every moment we have with them.
If I think about it, I got to have my baby for 6 weeks longer than the norm, and I've said this before, but I am still so amazed that they can be born so early and be so perfectly formed, even if so small.
I almost felt broody. Actually, I think I did melt.
In life, there are no guarantees and things often don't quite work out as you had hoped, planned or thought. This blog has been my saving grace, through my first pregnancy and recovering from the loss. Today I sit in wonder about how incredible life can be, and that despite all odds, I've finally become a mom!

Blessed with Amazing Friends
Last night two friends and I had made arrangements to have dinner at me. We planned to get chinese take aways from our favourite spot, and just enjoy the evening together, chatting and spending some girl time together.
There were a few surprises, and I love them for doing what they did.
There was chinese food (enough to feed an army), home made virgin pina coladas (my absolute favourite cocktail), home made cupcakes, and - I got spoilt with a pedi. Just yesterday morning I was getting dressed for work and looked down to see my toe nails - every single one in need of desperate attention. Can't remember when last I painted them, and I can't reach them any more any way. The polish had started wearing off, really badly but now they are all pretty again and painted blue!
I had such a fantastic evening. So blessed to have such amazing friends, they are so special to me. The last few weeks have been really rough, and after last night I feel wonderful, albeit a bit tired - it was so worth it. We must spent the most part of the evening laughing, about all sorts of things, and all sorts of stories.
Hubby also joined in for chinese, and then he went to watch his soccer match in bed. At eleven he popped his head down stairs and said he knows we're all having fun, but it's nearly 12 and I'm going to be tired in the morning. We all giggled, and said 'yes dad' back to him. I eventually got to bed just after 12.

Dress Up Birthday Party
It was a friend's 30th on Saturday night, and it was a dress up theme party. The theme was strange, but well suited to her... "I can't believe you came to my party dressed like that"
I went as a nun, and hubby went as a sperm bank. There was some outrageous costumes there!
