March Scan! 21 Weeks & A Bit!

We went for our doctor's appointment this morning... everything is good and our baby boy is growing well.  I've picked up a bit of weight, so the doctor is happier.

Our baby boy weighs 463 grams now, and his thigh bone is 4,8 cm long.  We think he's going to have long arms and legs.  Eep.

I took my camera with this morning because sometimes just when you get to see something the baby moves, and the print outs end up being quite blurry.

I can't believe the change and growth since our last scan.

The doctor tried to get a view of his face, but the way he was lying was nearly impossible!  He is lying with his head at my bladder, facing my back!  We eventually got to see a slight view of his profile, and little nose.  I think he has his daddy's nose, but I could be wrong.

Our 4D scan is booked for next Saturday.  Can't wait.  I really hope we get to see his face nicely, so excited and been wondering who this little guy looks like!

Where is the time going?  We're past half way... I am loving this experience, and as much as I want to see this little guy in person, at the same time I want to keep him all to myself for as long as possible.

You'll see below - we got a really nice picture of his arm and hand.  Pretty cool huh?

New Phone!

Well it's about time!  What is wrong with me?  My contract lapsed in AUGUST and I only decided on a new phone a week ago.  It arrived last night!  Now to figure out how to use this thing.

Nursery Ideas

I haven't done much for the baby's room yet.  Right now it looks more like a store room than anything else, the pram and stack of nappies the only tell tell sign.  And there's a big old double bed in there as well, which is staying in the room.

Been racking my brains about a theme, and colours.  And would you believe it we just couldn't agree on either.  I wanted elephants.  He wanted cars.  So we've compromised on both, and agreed on an aqua and yellow room with a colourful art wall.  We also spoke about putting up some vintage comic images - now to try and find them.  Else I'll have to get DIY'ing, and fast.  I think time is going to start running out before I know it - considering this has been the quickest 4,5 months of my life.

Here are the pictures of rooms in these colours which I saved for inspiration, taken from all over the web.  I just love the blues, yellows, greys, white and a bit of black.  Wish me luck for project Nursery.  I hope I can get the room to look half as gorgeous as some of these pictures.

Here are some gorgeous fabrics - I need to get to a fabric shop and see what I can find, hopefully stuff in similar colours etc.

And here is some furniture for inspiration.  Again, I love the aqua and yellow.  Also love the detail on those tressels - need to do test that out on something.

Okay so now that I've put all of these together, time to get cracking.  I was so excited about decorating the room that I didn't sleep last night and then, all of a sudden the alarm went off to get up for work.

This is Me @ 21 weeks

The girls at hubby's work wanted to see a pic of my belly.  So we took one!  Here I am at 21 weeks.  The belly dressed, and undressed!

Love and Happiness

"I'm proud of my heart.  It's been, stabbed, burned and broken yet somehow it still works." And, today it bursts with love and happiness.

Things at home are good.  I think hubby's getting used to the idea that there's a baby on the way.  He often comes up behind me, puts his arms around me and my belly.  Kind of like a big bear hug from behind.

He often asks "How's my baby doing?",  and last night when I answered and said he's been very busy.  I went to lie with him on the couch, so he could feel, and our little boy pushed up against his hand a good few times.

It is the most incredible feeling in the world, knowing we've become a family, for reals.

Milestone: Half Way! This is Me @ 20 Weeks

My belly is growing so nicely.  Hubby says it's getting big - we were having lunch together when he leaned over the table to point that out.  Of course I beamed with a big smile.  I've picked up about half a kg too, so I'm sure the doctor will be happier with my weight at our next visit.

My mom phoned - she wants to be here from day 1 in August.  It will be so great to have her with us, but I'm a bit stressed about hospital, coming home and settling in before having family visit us.  I know she's super excited, so I guess I can't blame her for wanting to be here.  I'm sure I'll want my mom with me... but still feeling a bit anxious at the same time.  Plus I haven't seen her in ages, I miss her terribly.  I'm so sad she's not with me to share this experience.  I send her photos every week, so at least she's being a part of things that way.  Hubby's mom has been wonderful, and she's not far.  We see her regularly.  I think both moms are over the moon.  And to be honest - who can blame them?  This is their first grand child!

Milestone: My Boy is Moving!

I have felt a few strange bubbles every now and then, but now I know for sure it's my boy that's been moving!  It's such an incredible feeling, and so weird at the same time.  He's moving properly, there is no doubt that what I'm feeling is him.  Ever since Saturday night (18 March)!

Last night I told hubby his baby has been quite busy, so he wanted to feel.  As luck would have it there was nothing.  I told him to keep his hand there, and while later he felt something move and asked if that was a fart on the way.  Laughing, I told him NO that is your baby!  He had a weird look on his face, but the most gorgeous smile when he felt it.  So in love with this man, and so, so happy.

This is Me @ 19 Weeks

I quickly took these pics this morning, I think my belly is going to get even bigger some time soon, it's been so itchy, no matter how much cream or tissue oil I put on.  Eeek.  I'm loving it though.  I can't wait for our next scan on 30th, and then there's the 4D on 7th April.  I'll be 20 weeks this week, half way already, where has the time gone!

Baby's First Toys

Here are pics of baby's first toys!
I got the zebra rattle and his aunty Kirsty got the cow.

This is Me @ 18 Weeks

My tummy is really starting to grow... 18 weeks, already?

I often wonder who this little angel will look like, if he will look more like me or more like his daddy, or if he'll be a perfect mix of both of us.  Still waiting to feel the first proper kick - the one where I will know it's the baby without a doubt.  This whole experience is actually so incredible, I wish I could stop the time for just a while...

It's a .......

BOY.  We're so, so happy!

We went for our monthly checkup yesterday.  I'm 17 weeks along!  Everything with baby is just perfect, I'm so in love with this little thing. The doctor is happy with all his measurements, I think besides the scan where we got to hear the heart beat for the first time, this has been the most awesome one to date. We got to see the little fingers and toes, stomach, umbilical chord, head, thigh bones, spine, and long legs and arms!  It looks like he takes after his daddy!  Our baby weighs 200 grams now and everything is on track.

Just as the doctor started with the scan I shouted out "It's a boy, I knew it, it's a boy!" and he smiled and said yes.  To be honest, my eyes teared up.  I still can't believe this dream has finally come true for us.  We are so blessed.  At the previous appointment he asked if I had a feeling about what the baby is and I said yes, I think it's a boy but let's see.  Then he started the scan and said "your son...." and "oh sorry, I'm just saying that because you said it" and we all laughed.

The only real worry the doc has at the moment is my weight loss - he's not happy about this.  I've lost about 4kgs, so he's instructed us to get me some supplements.  I need to try to pick up, if not maintain my current weigh by the time we get to our next appointment.

Apart from the work stress, I have been eating, but healthy food.  My appetite isn't huge, but I make a point of snacking and eating regularly, so let's see what happens.

I also had to pee in a jar and had some blood drawn to do a few tests, so the doc will call in a few days with the results for downs, hiv and other (can't remember what they are).  The pee test was all fine, no funnies there.

Our next 2 appointments are on 30th March and 26th April.
Then there's the 4D scan booked for 7th April!

The scan pics didn't come out too clearly, I had a chocolate after breakfast so baby was moving around like crazy.  Quite freaky to see - twice the doc asked if I could feel it, and I said nope.  I think I felt something once or twice before, but for now I'm not sure - something else to look forward to!
